Electrical Engineer
EVident Battery is a fast-growing startup based in Westford, MA, at the forefront of revolutionizing vibration monitoring and inspection solutions. We develop cutting-edge, non-destructive inspection and scanning technology for critical industrial machinery and equipment, including EV battery packs. Our platform integrates advanced inspection hardware with AI-driven analytics to enhance transparency and reliability in industrial monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Opportunity
As a full-time Electrical Engineer, you will support the development, testing, and validation of our hardware systems. You will collaborate with a cross-disciplinary engineering team to prototype, evaluate, and optimize electrical and embedded systems that power our inspection technology. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, motivated engineer to contribute to the future of electric vehicles, asset reliability, and machine health.
Responsibilites
Cloud Infrastructure & Services: Design, build, and maintain backend services and cloud infrastructure on AWS. Manage deployment pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring to keep production systems reliable and scalable.
Data Pipelines & Processing: Develop ingestion and processing pipelines for high-volume sensor data streams, ensuring data integrity from edge devices through to storage and analytics layers.
API Development: Build and maintain robust APIs that serve our internal tools, customer-facing dashboards, and integration points with hardware and AI subsystems.
DevOps & Reliability: Own CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and observability. Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with hardware, firmware, and AI teams to ensure seamless integration between physical sensor systems and software platforms. Translate real-world engineering constraints into practical software solutions.
Documentation & Technical Communication: Write clear documentation for system architecture, APIs, and operational procedures to support a fast-moving engineering team.
Compensation
Competitive pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, IoT Core, CloudFormation). This is a hard requirement—we need someone who can hit the ground running in our AWS environment.
Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Node.js, Go, or similar) with the ability and willingness to pick up others quickly.
Experience building and maintaining RESTful or GraphQL APIs in production.
Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and an understanding of query optimization and data modeling.
Comfort with Linux environments, shell scripting, and command-line tooling.
Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools is a plus.
Exposure to IoT data pipelines, time-series data, or real-time streaming systems is a bonus.
Strong debugging instincts. You approach problems systematically, not superstitiously.
Requirements
A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Approximately 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
Demonstrated, production-level experience with Amazon Web Services.
The ability to take ownership of problems end-to-end, learn new technologies on the fly, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
Willingness to be hands-on, iterate quickly, and adapt to evolving project requirements.
